I’m having trouble with my new fancy blog/website, but I miss blogging. So I am coming back home to my first effort to build The Sad Cafe Community.
Mondays are still Creativity time here, but I’d like to take a different take today. I believe that storytelling is a beautiful thing. It can bring us together in community, and it can help people connect on an individual basis by seeing inside each other’s hearts. But storytelling can also do something quite destructive–the stories we tell ourselves that no one else can hear can break our hearts and spirits. Those stories have the power to build us up and build up the world around us, but if we’re not careful, the stories we tell ourselves can destroy our chance to play big and to live the life we so desperately want for ourselves, whether we’re aware of it or not.
Listen to the stories you tell yourselves and others. Listen to the stories others tell you and themselves. Then tell big stories to the world. Stretch yourself and tell the biggest stories you can, then watch your world grow. Remember that you can change your future, just by telling yourself and others a different story.
