For those of us who are fans of community building, here’s a thought for today….You can’t build a community unless it’s built on–guess what–individual connections. Yes, I know, that’s obvious. But is it? Do we think about the way we relate to each other within that community? I don’t know. I just keep thinking that I expect others to reach out to me and embrace me in the community, but I act like I’m exempt from embracing others. Then I realize that I’m alone because I choose to be. If I don’t want to be alone, all I have to do is ask. Of course, that means that all someone else has to do is to say no.
If they do, what happens to me? What’s the very worst that can happen? Think about what could happen if someone says no to you. Realize that it’s not the end of the world. And then say yes. Yes to reaching out a hand. Yes to lighting up a heart. Yes to whatever comes next. You will survive. I promise. Even if it seems you won’t, YOU WILL SURVIVE. I PROMISE.
