We can change this world with words like "love" and "freedom."

Today one of my sheroes, Patti Digh, reposted something she wrote for Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday in 2010 (http://www.37days.com/2012/01/because-i-too-have-a-dream.html).  I decided that, in honor of Mr. King’s birthday, to write my own version of his “I have a dream” speech.

I have a dream that one day, all the people in the world will realize they have the power to stand up to others on behalf of those in need. No voice will be too small to make a difference.

I have a dream that each person will reach his or her hand out to support someone else. No connection will be too small to make a difference.

I have a dream that everyone will step up and provide kindness, comfort, and compassion to those around them. No gesture will be too small to make a difference.

I have a dream that people will learn to give selflessly of themselves for others. No gift will be too small to make a difference.

I have a dream that people will learn to see opportunities for change in every day. No vision will be too small to make a difference.

I have a dream that people will learn that healing can always come no matter how bad things look. No restoration will be too small to make a difference.

I have a dream that one day no person will be too small to make a difference.

I’m not as eloquent as Martin Luther King, Jr., or my dear friend Patti Digh, but I have a dream too. I dream that everyone reading this will take time to share their dreams with someone else.
